Henry TuckHenry Tuck is currently Managing Director of SPI Developments Ltd, a specialist technology supplier to the tobacco industry. He is also a Warden of the Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipe Makers and Tobacco Blenders in the City of London. He grew up in Shropshire close to the Ironbridge Gorge Museum, visiting regularly because of family involvement with the Museum Trust, and also getting involved in a local archaeological rescue dig. After getting an Engineering Degree at Cambridge University, he has spent nearly 40 years working in the production machinery side of the Tobacco Industry, supplying innovative equipment to solve customer problems around the world. Outside of work, he has always been interested in history and archaeology, particularly in terms of Shropshire’s local and industrial heritage. As part of his involvement with the Pipemaker’s livery company, he has been working to try and support the heritage of clay pipe making and sort out a future for the pipe museum in Ironbridge. He is also keen to prevent the skilled art of clay pipemaking from dying out in the UK and is therefore trying to ensure that the technical skills are passed on to a new generation of craftsmen and craftswomen.
